OK, it’s not Syracuse or Georgetown coming to Hartford for a big game, but it is the team leading the AAC and it’s an important outing for the Huskies.

Analysis

  • Here is how Ed Daigneault views this game:

Worth noting

  • Tulsa had a 12-game winning streak broken Saturday by SMU.
  • UConn is searching for its first three-game winning streak since early January. The Huskies have yet to win more than three straight games.
  • UConn center Amida Brimah, after blocking a career-high eight shots at Tulane, averages three blocks per game. That is good for second in the American Athletic Conference and eighth in the country.
  • Tulsa is 7-2 on the road this season while UConn is 8-3 at home.
  • This is the eighth time the Golden Hurricane has played a defending national champion on the road, but the first time since 1994. The Golden Hurricane are 0-7 in such games.
  • Tulsa is 14-0 when it holds opponents to fewer than 65 points. UConn is averaging 65.2 points overall and 61.7 points in league play.
  • Guard Sam Cassell, Jr., who has been out with a stress fracture in his right foot, has made no significant progress, coach Kevin Ollie said. Cassell will undergo and MRI next week and might be out for the remainder of the regular season.
  • Guard Terrence Samuel is likely to get his third straight start tonight.
  • Tulsa guards James Woodard and Shaquille Harrison are the top-scoring tandem in the AAC.
  • Former UConn assistant coach Dave Leitao, now a Tulsa assistant, returns to Connecticut tonight.
