Welcome to what should be another routine AAC win for the UConn men, who have a chance to make some noise in the soft under belly of a weak league. Needing wins to build a case for possible at-large tourney selection (should they fail to win the league tourney that will be played in Hartford), the Huskies are right where they want to be playing a parade of forgettable teams.

Today: South Florida.

Worth noting

  • The Huskies play the second of consecutive home games. They will not play consecutive home games again until the first week of March.
  • USF has lost four straight and 11 of its last 13 games.
  • The Bulls are the first repeat conference opponent for the Huskies. UConn took a 58-44 victory at USF on Jan. 6.
  • UConn is coming off a 67-60 victory over Central Florida on Thursday night. USF is fresh off a 73-48 defeat at Temple on Thursday night.
  • Bulls first-year coach Orlando Antigua spent Saturday in New York, his hometown, after a death in the family.
  • The Huskies are 6-0 at home against the Bulls. Five of those games have been played at the XL Center.
  • UConn’s 11 made 3-pointers against Central Florida were a season high while its eight turnovers tied a season low.
  • The Bulls have never beaten a defending national champion.
  • UConn guard Ryan Boatright leads in the AAC in scoring (15.8 points per game) while freshman teammate Daniel Hamilton leads the league in defensive rebounding (5.4 per game). Center Amida Brimah is tops in field goal percentage (69.7 percent).
